Vintage 1960s MCM Bird Mosaic on Wood Wall Hanging Mid Century Modern Wall Art

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a large and quite wonderful vintage mosaic tile wall hanging that dates back to the '60s. Theme: Bird. The mosaic if formed from pieces of tile that are set in a grayish grout. There is thin banded brass metal that forms the figure of the bird, and everything is set inside these bands (see photo). It gives the mosaic a slightly dimensional feel against the wood backing. NOTE: There is also an extra piece of this brass metal banding attached to the back side of the frame. Unsigned.

MEASUREMENTS: Approx. 59" tall x 12" wide.

CONDITION: Good vintage condition. While not 100% perfect, a few of the imperfections can be remedied. First off, there is a little bit of grout missing (see photos of left hand and center feathers at the top, and also the bill of the bird). The missing grout is not affecting any of the tiles, and it can easily and inexpensively be replaced. Moving onto the wood, there is a little bit of wear to the wood on both of the bottom corners. It isn't terrible, and it can be concealed if you decided to have a frame built around the piece. It honestly didn't bother us, so we just chose to leave it alone. The back side of the wood panel also shows some scratches and abrasions, but that's the back side, so they aren't seen. We have not attempted to clean or polish this piece - it is being presented for sale in the condition in which it was acquired. Display nicely, and is ready to be enjoyed in a new home!
