Pair Vintage Frederic Weinberg Zebra Lamps Mid Century Lighting Large Durex RARE

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare mirror image set of zebra lamps designed by Frederic Weinberg. Circa late '40s / early '50s. These lamps are absolutely magnificent, and should not be confused with the smaller versions of the zebras. Colors: Green, Gold, White and Red. Materials: Durex, Milk Glass, Metal. The lamps do not appear to be signed. They most likely had paper labels attached to the felt on the bottom of the bases, but alas, they're gone. Both lamps have a standard on/off rotary knob switch located at the socket.

MEASUREMENTS: Each lamp stands approx. 33" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the milk glass diffuser) x 11" wide (from front legs to back of tail) x 8" deep. The height of the socket from the bottom of the base is approx. 28.5" high. The zebra measures 20.5" tall x 11" wide x 3.5" deep. The round base at the bottom of each lamp is approx. 8" in diameter.

CONDITION: Given their age, we'd say they're in very good condition. There are sever spots of minor paint loss (see photos), as well as some areas that a previous owner tried to touch up, and didn't match the green color correctly. There are no chunks missing, breaks, repairs, etc. Just a bunch of small, shallow areas that could use a proper touch-up with the correct color of paint. Structurally, we'd rate this pair as a 9 out 10 in terms of overall condition. The electrical wiring looks to be original, and it is in good shape with no issues to report. The lamps are in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
