ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage atomic era glass lamp with its original matching fiberglass shade. Circa '50s. Materials: Glass, Brass, Fiberglass. The glass lamp base appears to be a white milk glass, and it has elongated diamond shapes applied to the surface in black and gold. The matching fiberglass shade is beige in color, and it has a random diamond pattern over the exterior surface (see photos). The lamp has three-way functionality via a rotary knob switch located at the socket - one twist lights up the glass base, a second twist lights up just the main socket, and a third and final twist illuminates both sockets at the same time. We are uncertain as to the manufacturer - there are no tags or labels present. It's a great little period lamp that is suitable for all interior spaces.
MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 17" tall x 8" wide x 8" deep. The distance from the resting surface to the light socket is approx. 11.5". The milk glass portion of the lamp measures approx. 6" tall (this does not include the height to the brass base beneath it). The fiberglass shade measures approx. 8" tall x 8" in diameter. The round brass metal base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. 5.5" in diameter.
CONDITION: Overall we'd say the lamp is in good condition for its age. There are some minor cosmetic things worth mentioning. First off, there is a little bit of wear to the gold colored diamonds on the glass (see photos). It is all the bad in our opinion. Next, the top part of the glass just beneath the light socket shows what appears to be a small linear crack on the inside of the glass. It does not appear to be affecting the lamp structurally, and it doesn't look like its at risk of getting worse. When you rub your finger over it, it is smooth to the touch. The brass base at the very bottom of the lamp has some tarnishing as can be expected from age - we didn't attempt to clean or polish it in any way. Lastly, the fiberglass shade has some mildly discolored areas off to the side (see photos), and just some general light wear as one can expect from age and handling. When the lamp is illuminated, you don't really see them. Again, we didn't attempt to clean the shade in any manner, so we are uncertain as to whether or not they'll come clean. Aside from that, the shade is free from rips, holes, tears, etc. The lacing appears to be intact and is structurally sound. The electrical wiring looks to be original, and is in good shape - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. Being sold "as-is", and "as-described". Please ask any questions that you may have prior to purchasing, and we will respond back to you in a timely manner.
