Vintage 1950s MCM Atomic Starburst Milk Glass Brass Lamps Mid Century Modern Lighting

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a fantastic set of atomic era table lamps. Circa '50s. Materials: Milk Glass, Metal, Brass. The lamps consist of two milk glass sections, and each has applied atomic era starburst patterns painted on the exterior surfaces. The lamps have a standard socket for a normal bulb, and they also have a small socket attached to the underside of the metal base which allows the lower glass portion of the lamp to light up as well. The lamps have standard on/off rotary knobs switches which allow for three-way functionality: one twist allows just the main socket to illuminate, a second twist allows just the smaller socket inside the base to illuminate, and a third twist allows them both to illuminate at the same time. We are uncertain as to the maker of these lamps - there are no labels or tags present. It will also be left up to the purchaser to provide their own shades are there are currently none present.

MEASUREMENTS: Each lamp stands approx. 31" tall x 5" wide x 5" deep. The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 22" high. The round metal base measures approx. 5.5" in diameter.

CONDITION: Both lamps are in very good condition. The only cosmetic flaw is with the metal bases - the gold coloration has worn and is wearing off on both bases. They can very easily be lightly sanded and repainted - we just chose to leave them alone. The glass components are free from chips, cracks, scratches, breaks, repairs, etc. The applied gold starburst patterns are in really nice shape - no fading - they are vibrant and appear unworn on all sides of both lamps. The metal components shows some light wear / discoloration consistent with age and handling (see photos). One of the plug tips looks like it was replaced at one point in time as they do not match. The wiring appears to be original and there are no issues - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamps are both in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly urge having the wiring inspected by a licensed professional prior to long-term use.
