Vintage MCM PLASTO Chalkware Lamp Fiberglass Shades Mid Century Biomorphic 1950s

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a super cool vintage chalkware lamp with its original accompanying fiberglass shades that was manufactured by PLASTO. Circa '50s. Materials: Chalkware, Brass, Fiberglass. Colors: Black, Gold, Beige. The lamp base has a plant-like / biomorphic design (see photos). The two fiberglass shades are beige in color with black and gold criss-cross designs applied to the surfaces, and they are set in place at slightly staggered heights. There is an on/off rotary knob switch that is embedded in the chalkware at the front of the lamp at the bottom of the base, and it provides for three-settings: the first allows just one socket to light up independent of the other, the second allows the other socket to light up independent of the first, and the third allows to both be illuminated simultaneously. The lamp is signed on the back of the base with the inscribed "Plasto Mfg Co." (see photo). It's a great lamp that is suitable for all interior settings.

MEASUREMENTS: With the shades attached, the lamp stands approx. 27" wide x 25.25" tall x 8" deep. Each of the shades measures approx. 10.25" tall x 8" in diameter. The height of the uppermost shade is approx. 25.25" high, while that of the lower shade is approx. 22.25" high. The chalkware base alone measures approx. 22" wide x 13.5" tall x 7" deep.

CONDITION: The lamp is in very good condition - there are no chips, cracks, breaks, etc. to the chalkware. The fiberglass shades are in great shape as well - no rips, holes, tears, stains, repairs, etc. The lacing is intact on both shades. The electrical wiring is in great shape - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order (see photos). As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe.
