Vintage MCM Ceramic Spiral Iron Cage Lamp Fiberglass Shade Mid Century Modern Atomic Era 1950s

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage atomic era table lamp with its original accompanying fiberglass shade. Dates back to the 50s. The lamp consists of a ceramic spiral base that is contained within an iron metal cage (see photos). The bottom of the cage forms three hairpin legs for the lamp to rest on. The fiberglass shade is oval in design, and is a green color with random wavy black brush strokes throughout (again, see photos). The lamp functions on/off by use of a toggle switch that is located at the socket. We are uncertain as to the maker - the lamp does not appear to be signed, and there are no tags or labels present. It's a great lamp that is suitable for all interior settings.

MEASUREMENTS: With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 22.75" tall (measured from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial). The distance to the light socket from the bottom of the base is approx. 17.5" high. The white ceramic spiral potion of the lamp base measures approx. 8.25" tall x 4" in diameter. The fiberglass shade alone measures approx. 8" tall x 15" in diameter (top) x 17" in diameter (bottom).

CONDITION: Very good condition. The base is free from cracks, breaks, scratches, repairs, bends, dents, dings, rust, oxidation, etc. The fiberglass shade shows some light wear that is commensurate with age. There are some old moisture blemishes on the material which should come out with a gentle cleaning - they didn't bother us, so we just left them alone. The fiberglass is free from rips, holes, tears, burn marks, etc. It looks as though a previous owner replaced the lacing at one juncture in time. The electrical wiring appears to have been replaced as well - there are no problems with it. One thing to note is that when the wiring was replaced, they decide to have it exit that bottom of the ceramic base as opposed to a hole that was already there for the same purpose (see photo). It doesn't affect anything, and in fact, it provides better stability. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always suggest having a licensed professional inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe. Being sold "as-is", and "as-described" - please look over the accompanying photographs carefully, and if you have further questions, ask away and we'll be more than happy to respond back to you in a timely manner. Thanks!
