Vintage MCM Ib Kofod-Larsen Penguin Lounge Chair Mid Century Modern Denmark

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage Ib Kofod-Larsen "Penguin" lounge chair. Made in Denmark (stamped along the bottom edge of the backrest - see photos). Materials: Wood, Iron, Upholstery. The seat is currently covered in a red fabric - it feels like a wood blend, but we're not 100% certain. It can easily be swapped out for a different fabric, if desired.

MEASUREMENTS: The backrest of the chair is approx. 29" high. The curved out sections of the backrest measure approx. 21.25" apart. The seat height is approx. 16" high, width approx. 21" wide, and depth approx. 18" deep. The distance from the front to back legs is approx. 24", while that between the two front legs is approx. 17" apart, and between the two back legs is approx. 14.25" apart.

CONDITION: The chair is in good vintage condition. There are some cosmetic things which we'll mention here. First off, the wood backrest has a few dings along the edge (see photos), as well as a little color loss in spots. We're not 100% certain, but this may have been re-stained at one point in time by its previous owner. If we were to keep the chair, we would probably sand the backrest down to get rid of the mild imperfections, and then give it an even staining. Next, the upholstery does have a small discoloration mark towards the back (see photos). We have not attempted to clean it any manner, so it may or may not come out. The black iron frame does show some color loss as well, but nothing that can't easily be touched up, if desired. We just chose to leave it alone as it never bothered us. Aside from that, the chair is structurally solid, functions as intended, and displays nicely. PLEASE NOTE: The backrest and seat will both be removed for shipping. The chair does not come apart any further than that, so it will require a fairly large box to accommodate it.
