ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage adjustable cattail table lamp that was manufactured by Laurel Lighting Company. Circa '50s / '60s. Materials: Metal. Colors: Black, Gold. The lamp features two conical shades attached to bendable gooseneck stalks, which allow the lamp to take on a number of different configurations. There is an on/off rotary knob switch that is located on the round metal base for functionality, and the lamp has three-way settings: one twist allows on socket to light up, a second twist allows the other socket to light up independent of the first, and a final twist allows them both to light up at the same time. The lamp still retains its original Laurel label on the inside of one of the shades, and there is an LLC stamp on the underside of the base (see photo).
MEASUREMENTS: With both shades in their full upright position, the lamp stands approx. 28" tall x 12" wide. Each shade measures approx. 8" long x 5.25" in diameter (at the opening). The black leaf-like accents at the bottom of the lamp are approx. 11" tall. The two gold colored cattail accents are approx. 20" tall. The round base at the very bottom of the lamp is approx. 7.25" in diameter.
CONDITION: Good vintage condition. The lamp is structurally in great shape. There are some minor cosmetic things which we'll make mention of now. First, the round base at the bottom of the lamp looks as though it was repainted at one point in time. There is a little residual paint on the bottom (back side) of the two black metal leaf accents that resulted (see photos). The round metal base also shows some areas of tarnishing around the edge (again, see photos). One of the black cone shades shows some minor superficial scratching, but nothing that can't easily be touched up (see photos). As far as the gooseneck stems go, they are in very good shape, and they are able to hold their positioning well. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and it's in good shape - no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having the wiring inspected by a certified, licensed electrician prior to long-term use.
