Rare Vintage MCM ALKUR Lamps Fiberglass Shades Mid Century Modern Lighting 1950s Majestic

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a rare pair of asymmetrical mirror image table lamps that were manufactured by Alkur. Circa '50s. Materials: Ebonized Wood, Brass, Fiberglass. Both of the lamps come with their original assymetrical fiberglass shades that are beige in color with black and gold paint swirl designs over the exterior surface. Each lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located at the socket. While the lamps do not appear to be visibly marked, there may be labels underneath the original green felt that is affixed to the underside of the rectangular bases at the bottom. These lamps are very large, and not for the faint of heart! They've always sparked interest in our home, but it is now time to let them set sail to a new owner.

MEASUREMENTS: With the shades attached, each lamp stands approx. 31" tall x 23" wide x 11" deep. The distance from the bottom of the base to the light socket is approx. 23" high. The wood bases each measure approx. 19.5" tall x 11.75" wide x 5" deep. The rectangular wooden bases at the bottom of the lamps measure approx. 11.5" wide x 5" deep x 2.75" tall (at the highest point). The fiberglass shades each measure 13" tall x 23" wide x 11" deep.

CONDITION: With the exception of some color loss (mainly around the edges and a little at the top of one lamp - examine photos), both are in great condition for their age. The paint can very easily be touched up or just left alone - we chose to leave them as they are as they display nicely in their current state. The brass rods show a nice patina from age. There are no breaks, bends, repairs, major scratches, etc. The fiberglass shades, albeit a little dusty, are in great shape and have been well taken care of - no punctures, rips, holes, tears, stains, burn marks, repairs, etc. The lacing is intact, and the shades are structurally solid.The electrical wiring is free from issues - no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas on the wire, etc. We always strongly recommend having a licensed professional check the wiring prior to long-term use. The lamps are both in fully-functioning, working condition. The lamps are being sold "as-is", and "as-described" - if you have questions, we encourage you to ask them prior to purchase, and we usually can respond back to you within a short amount of time.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to their size and fragile nature, these lamps will ship in separate parcels. One parcel will contain both bases, and there will be one parcel for each of the very large shades (if both shades are packaged together, it will drive the postage up significantly due to the overall size of the box needed, so it will be less expensive to ship each individually).
