ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage sculptural floor lamp designed by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline (Model 350). Circa '60s. Materials: Brass, Korina Wood, Woven Cane and Fiberglass. The lamp has a wooden pull down mechanism that is attached to the light socket, which provides for three different light intensities when pulled down. No labels or tags visible present.
MEASUREMENTS: With the outer woven drum shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 62" tall x 17" wide x 17" deep. The outer woven drum shade measures approx. 18.5" tall x 17" wide x 17" deep. The inner cylindrical beige fiberglass shade measures approx. 15" tall x 7" wide x 7" deep. The round base at the bottom of the lamp measures approx. 11" in diameter.
CONDITION: Overall, the lamp is in very good condition for its age. There are a few very minor flaws which we'll mention here, none of which are overly noticeable. First off, the inner fiberglass shade has a few small areas where the fiberglass material has started to darken from a light bulb. They are located directly behind the upright wooden posts, and they are not seen from the outside of the shade - the posts mask them from view. They are very faint, so we wouldn't necessarily call them burn / scorch marks (see photos). Next, there is a little wear to the trim material along the bottom edge of the outer woven shade (see photo). It does not appear to be affecting anything, and unless you turn the lamp shade upside down, nobody is going to notice this. There is a small scuff to the wood on the base at the bottom (see photo) - we have not attempted to clean, polish or sand this area. It is not deep, and can be buffed out with very little effort - it did not bother us, so we just left it alone. Lastly, the brass on the base shows a few small spots of tarnishing, but nothing major (again, see photos). Aside from these minor mentions, the lamp is in great shape and displays very well - it's been well cared for over the years The electrical wiring appears to be original to both lamps, and it is in good shape - no frays, splits, exposed / brittle areas. The lamp is in working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use.
