Vintage MCM MOSS Lamp Mid Century Modern Lighting Lucite Acrylic Spun Fiberglass Shade 50s

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an amazing vintage MOSS table lamp. Circa '50s. Materials: Acrylic / Lucite, Spun Fiberglass, Brass. The lamp features a spun fiberglass shade that is contained within a brass metal cage. There is a pierced white metal diffuser just above the shade. The cage snaps into place with rounded hooks along every other top projection (see photos). The base of the lamp is constructed of white acrylic and clear lucite that has silver confetti speckles throughout - it's super cool! The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is embedded into the side of the base (see photos). The lamp has two sockets - one which lights up the shade, and another smaller one that is meant for a decorative bulb to light up the base. The lamp has two settings: either the base can be lit up without the main shade, or both can be lit up at the same time. There were no labels or tags present, but it's definitely a Moss lamp. It's suitable for all interior settings.

MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx. 28" tall x 26" wide x 12" deep. The spun fiberglass shade is approx. 12" tall, and it has a 9.5" drop from the extended overhead arm.

CONDITION: Good vintage condition. There is one small stable crack in the clear acrylic on the inside of the upright arm (see photos). At first we didn't notice it, but alas, it's there. It's not glaring at all because it is camouflaged by the silvery confetti material that is embedded into that piece. The shade is structurally stable and not falling apart, but it could use a cleaning - it has become a little discolored over time (see photos). There are no rips, holes, tears, repairs, etc. The brass cage shows a gentle patination which is commensurate with age - looks really nice! The electrical wiring looks to be original to the lamp, and it is in good condition - there are no frays, splits, exposed or brittle areas. The lamp is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having a licensed electrician inspect the wiring prior to long-term use, just to be safe.

PLEASE NOTE: The lamp is rather large and awkward in shape. We'd prefer local pick-up, but are not objectionable to shipping. The amount that we have listed in the listing for shipping is just a place holder estimate - it could end up costing a little less / little more - we do not have it packaged yet, and it will take special materials to keep it safe during shipping.
