Vintage MCM Round Metal UFO Saucer Adjustable Ceiling Lamp Light Atomic 1950s

ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an original vintage adjustable hanging saucer / ufo ceiling light fixture. Circa '50s. The metal shade is disc-shaped and has scattered round perforations on the top surface for light to shine through. The underside features a round saucer shaped milk glass shade with a design on the surface (see photos). The fixture has a brass metal pull-down handle on the underside of the fixture (again, see photos). It takes two standard size light bulbs, and there is an on/off rotary knob switch located by the brass metal handle. Just above the metal saucer shade is a brass cup which contains extra cord if one wishes to extend the length of the drop from the ceiling. The inside of the metal ceiling canopy still retains its original yellow UL labels (see photos). We are uncertain as to who the manufacturer is of this fixture as there are no other tags or labels present.

MEASUREMENTS: The round pierced metal black shade measures approx. 16" in diameter. The fixture hangs down approx. 18" from the ceiling canopy, but can be lowered further with the extra cord that is contained inside the brass egg cup just above the shade. The round glass shade on the underside measures approx. 12.5" in diameter.

CONDITION: Overall, the fixture is in very good, all-original condition. The metal saucer shade is free from dents, dings, scratches, breaks, repairs, etc. The white underside of the metal saucer shade shows some minor discoloration, but nothing major at all. The glass shade is free from chips, scratches, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The retractable mechanism works properly, and the fixture is able to hold its position when adjusted to hang in a lower position. The electrical wiring is original to the fixture, and appears to be in decent shape for its age - the fixture just needs to be hard wired into position. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly urge having the wiring inspected prior to long-term use. Being sold "as-is" and "as-described". Have questions? Please ask them and we will respond back to you in a timely manner.
