ITEM: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an incredibly cool and quite scarce vintage UFO / saucer atomic era tripod lamp. Circa '50s. The base consists of a green fiberglass saucer that rests atop three outstretched wire legs, with each leg ending in a black wooden atomic ball. The smaller upper shade component is also green, and it clips directly onto the lightbulb being used (see photos). The fiberglass has randomly placed white oval designs on the outer surfaces of the material (see photos). The lamp has a standard on/off rotary knob switch that is located on the underside of the light socket. We are uncertain as to the manufacturer - there are no labels or tags present
MEASUREMENTS: The lamp stands approx. 10" tall x 13" in diameter.
CONDITION: Good vintage condition with some minor imperfections. First off, three (3) consecutive lacing holes have been compromised (see photos). This does not seem to be affecting the structural integrity of the lamp, nor does it affect the display - we're solely mentioning for accuracy. The fiberglass is free from burns, holes, tears, repairs, etc. - just some normal light wear that is consistent with age and handling. The metal legs show some black color loss as is typical with an item of its age; again, nothing distracting, but we want to mention it for accuracy. The electrical wiring appears to be original to the lamp, and it's in very good shape - no frays, splits, exposed and/or brittle areas. The lamp has been tested, and it is in fully-functioning, working order. As with all vintage lighting, we always strongly recommend having the wiring inspected by a licensed electrician prior to long-term use.
