Vintage Abstract Oil Painting Mid Century Modern Art Signed Van Kleef Cali As-Is

Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale an amazing vintage abstract oil painting done on a heavy stock paper that is attached to a cardboard backing material. Artist: Peter Van Kleef (late owner of the famed Café Van Kleef in Oakland, CA). We are uncertain as to the exact age of the painting. It was purchased years ago when we lived in California. The former owner seems to think it was done during the '60s, but that' all we know about it. Not sure if it was framed at one point in time - our guess is that it probably was. The painting is signed in the lower right-hand corner (please see photos).

Measurements: Approx. 30" tall x 24" wide.

Condition: We'd say the painting is in good condition, but it does have some condition issues worth mentioning, mainly around the edges. There are a few small tears in the paper along the edges, as well as just some general edge wear (please see photos). It appears in areas that the paper is lifting a little from the cardboard backing (again, see photo). A simple matting and framing we eliminate all of this, but we wanted to mention it for accuracy. If you note the first photo in the listing, this is how the painting will look if there's matting and a frame around it. Aside from that, the painting does display well and is ready to be enjoyed in a new home. It is being sold "as-is" - please examine all photos, and ask any questions that you may have prior to purchasing, as all sales are final.
